Lunar Eclipse from Bakersfield, Ca.

So last night was supposed to be a Lunar Eclipse. I set my alarm for 330am, got dressed, loaded most of my gear, warm tea in hand & off I went. Luckily, I chose to go close to home today. As I pulled up for night photography of the moon and realized that I had no tripod in the car. I immediately went home to retrieve it.

The Lunar Eclipse was supposed to start its penumbra stage around 415am, with the best shading between 550-630am. My 1st shot was taken at 536am-622am I stopped when the clouds covered the full moon. It was really hard to see with my eyes any of the eclipse. I did want to try to shoot the setting of the moon inside one frame so that I could put each moon image taken 5 mins apart together. It was hard to guestimate where to start the moon in the frame. I got one shot at it & kind of like it for my 1st try!!!

I put approx. 18 images together in Photoshop CS5. Enhanced it in Lightroom 4. When I was done shooting the moon, I started driving away & found this sight!!! I just had to capture it too! Oh, BTW, even my dog got bored & fell asleep in the car when I was out shooting on this early fall morning!

Of course then I had to wait for the sun to rise!!! Enjoy!!!
